鶹ý City University’s internationally renowned American Spirit Dance Company will showcase Broadway-style dance with its annual spring show “The Broadway Review” from March 9 to 11.
Directed by OKCU Dance Chair Jo Rowan, the show features fast-paced tap, jazz and theatrical dances. The show will explore love and loss through various numbers including the Johnny Cash favorite “Ring of Fire,” Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” and “With You” from the movie “Ghost.”
Rowan said “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” will bring the 1940s to life with swing and jive dancing.
“See tremendous lifts and feel the exuberance of the ‘40s,” Rowan said.
A rocking, roaring Tyrannosaurus Rex will shake things up with a bevy of long-legged dancers, and audience members will feel the thrill of New York City with the high-kicking, Rockette-inspired number “New York, New York” and “Ship Shape,” which will bring dancing sailors to the stage.
Hope and faith will be reflected in the spiritual numbers “Glory” and “God Be With You.”
Not to be outdone by T-Rex, “Macavity” will feature a villainous mystery cat right behind “Mission Impossible” and “Smooth Criminal.”
“There will be something from dynamic show biz productions for everyone,” Rowan said.
