Preach and prosper: Certificate program is a blessing for faith leaders

ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City University’s religion school and Nonprofit Leadership program have joined to launch a certificate program to help faith-based organizations grow and thrive.

The Wimberly Nonprofit Leadership for Faith Organizations certificate program will cover critical areas such as legacy giving, intergenerational engagement, community empowerment and strategic partnerships. The program features expert instruction, flexible learning options and affordable pricing, making it accessible to leaders across the faith community.

Course sessions will be held Feb. 18 and Sept. 30, and participants may choose to attend virtually or in person.

Beth Adele, director of the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Nonprofit Leadership program, said the initiative is designed to empower faith-based leaders with the essential skills and knowledge needed to navigate today's complex landscape.

β€œBy focusing on critical areas and best practices, we aim to equip organizations to make a lasting impact in their communities,” Adele said. β€œThis valuable training will help leaders who are committed to strengthening their ministries."

Participants may choose to attend all sessions or select individual areas of interest. The nondenominational, comprehensive program is divided into the following sessions for 2025:

  • Strengthening Legacy Giving: Learn to strategically engage aging donors and develop sustainable planned giving campaigns.
  • Bridging Generations: Discover effective communication strategies to connect with and inspire multiple generations, fostering stronger relationships and lasting engagement.
  • Empowering Communities: Explore how to identify community needs and design transformative programs that empower individuals toward long-term self-sufficiency.
  • Building Strong Partnerships: Gain the tools to cultivate strong, mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance program development and maximize impact.

The interactive sessions will be held on the mornings and afternoons of Feb.18 and Sept. 30. Participants may choose to attend virtually or in-person to fit their schedule and preferences. Continuing Education Unit credits are available upon completion, and all attendees will receive a certificate of completion. Sessions are priced at only $25 each or $40 per day.

Leslie Long, director of the Wimberly School of Religion, said the sessions can prove pivotal in how faith-based leaders navigate their appointments in modern times.

β€œAs the world changes, so do the needs of the church,” Long said. β€œWhether a person has recently entered ministry or has served for years it is important to learn about new ways to reach out and strengthen our ministries.”
