OKCU Recognized as a Certified Healthy Campus

ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City University has been recognized as a Certified Healthy Campus by the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ State Department of Health for the university’s commitment to promoting health and wellness for faculty, staff and students.

β€œAt ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City University, we are committed to the health and wellness of our students, faculty and staff as well as to the community,” said President Robert Henry. β€œWe are honored to be recognized as a healthy campus and will continue to provide our campus community with resources to lead healthy lives and achieve positive work-life balances. Our campus healthcare clinic is one of the great assets we have available to our campus community.”

ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City University provides students, as well as faculty and staff, with options for maintaining good health. Students enjoy fitness center access, a tobacco-free campus and a 1.3 mile marked walking path that winds through campus. In addition, employees are able to benefit from quarterly fitness and health behavior challenges, diabetes prevention programs, medical plan incentives, stress management groups, free on-campus health screenings and receive 60 minutes of wellness time each week to be used in support of an on-campus wellness-related activity.

β€œWe have worked toward developing and implementing wellness programming aimed at fostering a visibly healthy culture that recognizes and embraces the importance of well-being as an integral part of our institutional values,” Henry said.

Certified Healthy Campus was created in 2011 to recognize both public and private campuses and career technology centers that promote health and wellness for their faculty, staff and students. Any college, university or career technology center may apply for Certified Healthy Status through the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ State Department of Health.
