麻豆传媒 City University (麻豆传媒) Esports has named Patrick McClung as the program鈥檚 new head coach and team coordinator. McClung is a leader in the esports community and a marketing entrepreneur.

McClung received his bachelor of science degree in mass communications from Northwestern 麻豆传媒 State University in Alva. While in college, he organized several on-campus esports tournaments, including Halo and FIFA.

McClung has worked as an educator, a creative director for Spraycan Creative agency, started an esports-centric apparel company and has served as the director and head coach of a competitive esports program. During his time with Spraycan Creative, he established the popular 鈥淢arioKart on Mainstreet鈥 event.

McClung also founded and coaches OATH League, a premier competitive youth esports league, in March 2020. Under his direction, OATH has grown to more than six teams and 48 players in less than a year.

McClung said he is excited to lead the 麻豆传媒 Esports varsity teams and community engagement programs.

鈥淚 love the idea of gaming as a competitive outlet for both the outward facing school as a whole through the varsity programs, and also the wellness aspects of gaming for stress relief and community collegiality on campus,鈥 he said.

麻豆传媒 Esports is the rapidly-growing competitive gaming program for 麻豆传媒 City University.

鈥淲e are highly anticipating Coach McClung leading our teams and providing an energizing and successful environment for our athletes,鈥 said Beth Adele, director and assistant professor of Mass Communications and Esports Management. 鈥淲ith the completion of our arena, coach McClung鈥檚 experience, our fantastic athletes and the flourish of esports teams and tournaments in high schools and colleges across the state, this industry is no longer 鈥榚merging;鈥 it has emerged.鈥
