Grammy Nominee to Perform with OKCU Jazz Orchestra

Jazz saxophonist and award-winning composer Bob Mintzer, a 2017 Grammy nominee, performs with the 18-piece ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City Jazz Orchestra at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, to kick off ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City University’s 2017 Distinguished Artists ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ at the Bass School of Music.

Mintzer joins forces with the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ City Jazz Orchestra, now in its eighth year and praised by the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Gazette for restoring β€œperformances of full-scale, concert-style, big-band jazz arrangements back to the metro for the first time since the 1980s.”

Their ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ concert debut will be held at Petree Recital Hall, 2501 N. Blackwelder. Tickets ($15 adults, $5 students, free with Bass School ID) available from 405-208-5227 or okcu.edu/tickets.
