Mass Communications majors won Mark of Excellence Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists in Region 8, which covers Â鶹´«Ã½ and Texas.
Madi Alexander and Hailey Holloway won first place with one entry and were finalists with another in the Television In-Depth Reporting category. The two were also finalists in the In-Depth Reporting category, and Â鶹´«Ã½-TV was a finalist for Best All-Around Television Newscast.
Regional winners automatically advance to the national SBJ competition.
Overall, Â鶹´«Ã½ broadcast students have won a total of 21 awards for the 2012-2013 school year; 12 were in multi-state competitions, and nine were in a statewide competition.
Of those awards, 10 were for News on the Twos and its content, and 11 were for other creative products such as commercials and music videos.
