Jeremy Duvall is the artist in residence in the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. His credits include "Wicked," "The Jungle Book," "Billy Elliot" and many more. Here are Jeremy's responses to the Employee Spotlight survey:
Years at Â鶹´«Ã½: I am an alumni graduate from 2001, and this year is my first year on faculty.
Where did you go to college, and what type of degree did you earn?: I went to Â鶹´«Ã½ and received a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree.
In what city did you grow up?: Shawnee, Â鶹´«Ã½
Why is helping students important to you?: Sharing knowledge that I have received throughout my studies and professional career brings me to joy to pass the torch to this younger generation for them to thrive and succeed.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to an incoming Â鶹´«Ã½ student?: Enjoy the journey. Do not compare yourself to others. Let others be inspirations that will allow you to push yourself with growth. Be uniquely you and share YOU with the world. You are important.
What are some of your favorite things to do in your free time?: I enjoy the theatre, movies, live music, a fun board game, dominoes, or cards, and catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
You’re going to be stranded on a deserted island and you can only take one movie and one TV show/series to watch. What would you take?: "Greys Anatomy" and "Young Frankenstein"
Favorite flavor of ice cream?: Pistachio
What’s something you like about working at Â鶹´«Ã½?: I enjoy the aspect of home that I feel being here.
Do you have any recent professional achievements you’d like to share?: I just returned from teaching in Brazil at a Jazz Dance Congress. It was an incredible experience to share my love of Jazz and Lyrical dance with the students in Latin America.
What’s one country you’d love to visit, and why?: I would love to go to Thailand. I hear that it is beautiful and peaceful; two things that I always enjoy in my life.
Early riser or night owl?: I am a night owl.
You’re going to attend an Â鶹´«Ã½ event – do you pick music, dance, theatre or athletics, and why?: I am in the entertainment industry, so I am going to choose Dance and Theatre before Music and Athletics.
What’s your best one-sentence sales pitch for why a student should attend Â鶹´«Ã½?: We help to mold employable students out into the real world. We aren't called Stars for nothin :)
