Lauren Smith (BFA Acting β22) portrays Joan of Arc in a monologue from Shakespeareβs Henry VI, Part I in the School of Theatreβs production of βWoe is Me.β In the performance, Smith confronts the English generals who want to burn her as a witch. βWhen I think of my ability to be on the stage in a time like this, β¦ I am incredibly grateful β¦. Things are a little different now, but Iβve realized theatre does not always need to be extravagant or groundbreaking to be valuable. Sometimes the joy and freedom that comes from performing is enough on its own.β
